Sand Safari Arts Festival
Over 17 days, the sands and streets of Surfers Paradise will come alive in a celebration of sand, sea and sport inspired art.
The popular free event features the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships, drawing thousands of spectators to admire some of Australia's and the world's most talented sculptors, as they intricately carve life-sized masterpieces over the course of the weekend. Watch as mermaids and mythical creatures line the foreshore with each sculpture encapsulating a different sporting theme.

Australian Surfing Awards
The Australian Surfing Awards incorporating the Hall of Fame were first convened in 1985 by the Australian Surfriders Association (now Surfing Australia) to preserve the history of Australian surfing and honour its great achievers.
Each year the Australian Surfing Awards incorporating the Hall of Fame are presented to those who have made a significant contribution to the development of surfing in this country. The awards include a number of support categories that recognise the broad spectrum of individuals and organisations who are involved in the sport through events, business, media, photography, movies, clubs, travel, administration or pioneering new initiatives.

The iconic Snapper Rocks point break on the southern Gold Coast makes a fitting backdrop for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, marking the opening of the men’s and women’s world championship tours.
